2016 RAISING HOPE FUNDING FOCUS:
CANCER SCREENINGS FOR UNDERSERVED
Guests of the Seattle Hope Gala will be asked to raise their paddles to support the American Cancer Society. All funds donated to the 2016 Raising Hope Funding Focus will directly provide services to underserved and unscreened, age eligible patients in the Puget Sound.
Colon cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed and second leading cause of cancer death in Washington State. Regular screening for colon cancer can reduce the number of deaths by at least 30 percent.
Unfortunately, a dramatic screening gap exists between underserved populations and the general public (36% vs 69% screening rates). This need has created an opportunity to remove barriers and directly impact the unscreened population who are underinsured or uninsured.
Funds raised at the Seattle Hope Gala will support closing the colorectal cancer screening gap for the medically underserved with the opportunity to provide services for up to 50,000 unscreened, age eligible patients through Community Health Centers in the Puget Sound.
